Butterfly Garden
A butterfly garden is a garden planted specifically to attract butterflies. Plants used in a butterfly garden provide nectar for adult butterflies and plants that caterpillars will thrive on. A garden that attracts butterflies will also bring native bees and birds.
A garden that attracts butterflies will also bring native bees and birds. They are all really good for the environment and play a role in increasing biodiversity.
September is a peak time for butterflies. Butterflies are almost guaranteed to linger in your garden into autumn and even winter if their caterpillar (larval) food plants are available. Some of the butterfly friendly plants you can enjoy in our garden are Garden Sage, Allium, Agapanthus, Digiplexis, Purrsian Blue, Banana Cream and many more.
Our Butterfly garden is located on the Cranaghan Way Walkway.
Thank you to Imelda from Mountain View Garden centre for her help in selecting optimum plants for this area and special thanks to the Children from Scoil Naoimh Brid, Ballyconnell who assisted our Gardening team planting this garden in May 2023.
