Castle Coole was designed by James Wyatt and completed in 1798 for the first Earl of Belmore. The surrounding 700 acre estate is a fitting setting for the mansion and there are enjoyable walks through the Grand Yard, the servants’ quarters and tunnel and an ice house.
The castle was founded by the Gaelic Maguire chieftains and the family ruled the are from this stronghold and forms and important part of Fermanagh’s history and heritage. It also houses the Fermanagh County Museum.
Forming part of a magnificent 300 acre estate, including 50 acres of lakes, our highly acclaimed 18-hole championship course is sensitively wrapped around the lakes and the drumlins of the County Cavan landscape.
